During this satsang on Chapter 2 of the Bhagavad Gita, Sri Krishna first gives insight into the path of descent, falling away from spiritual height. How the mind can become glued to objects through desire. When the desire for objects is fulfilled, greed ensues. When the desire is unfulfilled, anger and delusion follow. Therefore the Yogi must ascend through the middle path of Stitha Prajna - steadiness in wisdom.

In conclusion, the Lord's teaching to Arjuna focuses on the path of spiritual ascent. Sri Krishna guides us as well toward the path that moves upwards toward freedom from the vicious circle of likes and dislikes. Thereupon we gain steadiness which brings us to
our natural state of being; supreme peace and calm clarity of mind. In a wonderful and illuminating way, this satsang serves as a road map toward happiness and enlightenment.

This satsang, given by Swami Jyotirmayananda (yrf.org), gives a superbly insightful and clear explanation of two of the most important, and unfortunately the most misunderstood, verses of the entire Bhagavad Gita.

In Chapter II: verses 69-70 were are directed by the Lord:
"The man of restraint is awake in that which is night for all beings; The time in which all beings are awake is night for the sage who sees."

"Like the ocean, which becomes filled yet remains unmoved and stands still as the waters enter it, He whom all desires enter and who remains unmoved attains peace; not so to the man who is full of desire."
From the explanation of these verses we come to understand the true meaning of the words of Sri Ramana Maharshi when he declared: "The true Jnani (Knower of God) is the greatest Bhakti (Lover of God)."

This valuable satsang was given by Swami Jyotirmayananda, the spiritual head of Yoga Research Foundation located in Miami, Florida USA. His teaching and many recorded talks can be found on his website  yrf.org

The scriptural reference in this satsang, from which clear insights on the meaning of "OM" and its use within meditation are brought forth, are from the Katha Upanishad beginning with verse 15.

Here Lord Yama commences the teaching relating to Brahma Vidya, The Knowledge of Brahman:
"That Supreme abode which is praised by the Vedas, for attaining which one practices Brahmacharya (self-restraint on all levels) as well as all spiritual austerities, that Abode I will describe in brief; It is OM."
Within all of the Vedas, this is one of the clearest revelations given by which the true purpose of why all yogis perform spiritual practice, through which the greatest attainment is achieved.

Swamiji gives not only a true rendering of the meaning of "OM" found within the Vedas, but also an approachable and practical method of applying this most ancient and Divine spiritual practice within modern daily life.

In this satsang a question was placed by a householder devotee of Bhagavan, during the early morning hours at Sri Ramana Ashram (the peacocks and the trucks were just waking up!). She was concerned as to how the practice of meditation could be integrated within the many duties of maintaining a family, a career and home life. The discussion centers on the teachings of Sri Ramana Maharshi concerning His very definition of meditation: "The keeping off of thoughts." Important points are revealed regarding the preliminary stages of meditation, in which effective means of "keeping off thoughts" are employed, as opposed to the difficulties in the advanced stages which attempt to "stop all thoughts."
