GOD ROCKING THE CRADLE - THE MAKING OF AN HIMALAYAN MONK (PART FOUR - CONCLUSION)
In this final satsang in the series recounting the life-story of Swami Shantananda Puri, we hear of his formal entry into the life of a sannyasi (monk).
Like all of us, that is - being human, Swamiji made secure plans for starting out as a mendicant monk in India. Immediately thereafter, his Guru’s voice miraculously came to him and profoundly declared:
“Hey, sannyas is for tapasya (austerity), it is no picnic! Set out alone, never stay in one place for more than three days and let the Lord be your sole sustenance.”
Swamiji joyfully recounts that from that day unto the present (decades of time), he was only once without food or shelter. Thus it was, and is, for this child of the Divine Mother.
