This valuable satsang was given by Swami Jyotirmayananda, the spiritual head of Yoga Research Foundation located in Miami, Florida USA. His teaching and many recorded talks can be found on his website yrf.org
The scriptural reference in this satsang, from which clear insights on the meaning of "OM" and its use within meditation are brought forth, are from the Katha Upanishad beginning with verse 15.
Here Lord Yama commences the teaching relating to Brahma Vidya, The Knowledge of Brahman:
"That Supreme abode which is praised by the Vedas, for attaining which one practices Brahmacharya (self-restraint on all levels) as well as all spiritual austerities, that Abode I will describe in brief; It is OM."Within all of the Vedas, this is one of the clearest revelations given by which the true purpose of why all yogis perform spiritual practice, through which the greatest attainment is achieved.
Swamiji gives not only a true rendering of the meaning of "OM" found within the Vedas, but also an approachable and practical method of applying this most ancient and Divine spiritual practice within modern daily life.
