This talk, given by Swami Sadasivananda on Easter morning, began with questions regarding the various methods of meditation, and the similarities of these methods within all of the world religions.

As was most appropriate on the morning of Easter, the discussion moved toward the true meaning of the human condition, spoken of in both the Bible and the Bhagavad Gita, of having "hardness of heart". The value of hearing this discussion lies in the fact that both of these major scriptures reveal how we can become "hard of heart" and most especially how we can free ourselves from such a state.

"Should I seek experiences within meditation, especially experiencing the "right side" of the heart, and how can these be beneficial or can they be untrustworthy and harmful?"
How the mind can become glued to objects through desire. When the desire for objects is fulfilled, greed ensues. When the desire is unfulfilled, anger and delusion follow. Therefore the Yogi must ascend through the middle path of Stitha Prajna - steadiness in wisdom.

In conclusion, the Lord's teaching to Arjuna focuses on the path of spiritual ascent. Sri Krishna guides us as well toward the path that moves upwards toward freedom from the vicious circle of likes and dislikes. Thereupon we gain steadiness which brings us to our natural state of being; supreme peace and calm clarity of mind. In a wonderful and illuminating way, this satsang serves as a road map toward happiness and enlightenment.
